Review by merrychef, 2010-09-05

This is my 2nd Hamilton Beach 31197 with convection and Rotisserie. I had the 1st one for 10 years.

Put a 5# pork or beef roast on the spit, season to taste and let the rotisserie do its magic. Put in one or 2 8x8 baking pans for cake or brownies and prepare for a treat.

Broil steaks, burgers, sausages or bacon using the large tray and wire rack that come with it.

Want to bake 2 12" pizzas? Enjoy.

The caveats?

Don't have the rack toooo high for broiling or you will get flares of flame (don't panic if that happens, just switch it off and lower the rack a notch.)

DO clean well after each use. Let it cool down to room temp and then use soapy water and a sponge to wash and a wet rag to rinse 2-3 times then wipe dry. Stay away from the scrubbers and chemicals. This thing sits right up there on your counter top which makes it easy to access and keep clean.

The unit will get hot, of course so be sure cloth and paper are not on or against it while in use,

For some the fact that it does not make toast will be a drawback. For me, the purchase of a $10 toaster is worth it to have all these other attributes.

I suspect I'll be looking for another of these in about 10 years.

Great multiple function oven choice

Review by D. Laney, 2010-09-05

We haven't had a "toaster oven" in awhile, so after a few years of listening to complaints I decided to look into a multi-function toaster oven/convection device. When I saw this one included a rotisserie too I was very interested. After reading the reviews it seemed like a solid choice for us. We've had it only a few days but have used it every day. Let me tell you, on hot days like today the little oven saves us from being overheated in the kitchen, even when it's on roasting a chicken for 3 hrs! We've made two chickens (one baked, one rotisserie) and they were great. The one we used with the rotisserie came out so juicy! At first there was a complaint that it didn't toast, and no there aren't any instructions specifically on toasting but we figured it out so it finally meets the toaster oven requirement! We've used it to make baked apples, cookies! Replaces our need for the big oven! I'd recommend getting one if you are interested in these uses.

Needs digital timer.

Review by Pat, 2010-08-27

This is a good product with various features. Looked it up at manufacturer website and definitely would not have paid the MSRP of $149. The only thing I would change is that the timer should be digital, otherwise I would give it more stars.

oven

This is a great little oven. I cook in it all the time. Cooks according to set temperature. This is my second one. A ladder fell on the first one & broke it.

ON MY 2ND

Review by USA, My Backyard, 2010-08-10

We are full time RVers and our 5th wheel did not have an oven whick was great because it is right next to the fridge. We use the oven every day sometimes twice. It bakes bisquits, broils wonderfully and makes meat crispy when needed. It also fits great on the countertop and travels in place. I do have to secure the door.
The only problem was the broiler coil. It stopped working once and my husband fixed it but a few months later it stopped again. I just want a new one and for under $100.00 what do you want.
